TUGUEGARAO CITY – Cataggaman NVP clinched their first win in the 2023 Mayor’s Cup Senior’s Division Basketball Quarterfinals, to upset Linao A, 80-78, at the People’s Gymnasium on July 28, Friday.

Cataggaman’s Carl Dayag, #29, dropped a three-pointer to erase a point deficit, 75-76, and take the lead over Linao, 78-76, 20.7 seconds left in the 4th quarter.

NVP edged out Linao A in the match with #4 Daniel Allayban completing the rout by clutching two free throws consecutively, 80-78.

In the earlier stages of the game, Linao A dominated clearly; hauling the first three quarters.

Chester Eclipse, #2, of Linao A, delivered a three-point buzzer beater to end the 2nd quarter with a 15-point advantage, 34-49.

Linao A maintained the lead, 42-53, 4 minutes in on the 3rd quarter.

The Tuguegarao City People’s Gymnasium was jam-packed with fans of both teams cheering for their bet.

The winning team holds a 1 win, 1 loss standing.

NVP topped the Bracket A in the eliminations of the Senior’s Division.
