The WordPress Blogosphere is full of advertising by WordAds and Automattic. This way of marketing is put on every site that is created on WordPress or at least, by WordPress. It is automatically generated for all the free-plan blog sites.
Based on my experiences here it is no lie that we are used as a way to make revenue. Not for us, but for others? As I signed up for my own Email Subscription or by following by mail. I observed that most of the posts sent to me contains several advertisments that I have not allowed since.
WordPress did not announce anything from this matter. Most of them came from Google Ads and are found in the bottom of the post in the Emails.
Is it legal?
Well, I have no right on asking and complaining about this issue. All I know is that we do own our content and by means of the ads popping in my blog I can understand that WordPress has all control in the site. After all my blog is named on the WordPress Subdomain.
Legal, or not we sure accepted the Terms and Conditions policy, even if I did not read it. Lol. Is WordPress really generating income with this advertisements? Not sure, don’t know, don’t think so.
What do you think about the way the ads are ran here? Would you consider putting your advertisement on WordAds? Hey, I haven’t tried it yet and I am not planning to. I am pretty sure the upgraded plans has a feature in the removal of the automated ad banners.
WordPress makes you decide about your site and all, but they also decide what they want to put in it. I am sure I own my blog here. I have not made any changes in the settings or something. Anyways, I told you it’s everywhere.
Just like every other online app and social media platforms, WordPress are making and doing the same thing. I mean, Facebook has it’s own Ads and sponsored content featured. Google runs it’s own platform for Advertising. By listing your product, it will display it on the apps itself.
Service offers, shopping, promos and others are mostly shown. In Twitter, profile accounts are usually the ones used for paid promotion. It helps you reach more users on the website. Kind of the same with Facebook’s Page post boost offer. They show you a preview of it once and then suddenly, everytime you scroll down that app.
And I tell you it keeps notifying me to take the offer because it has a first time promo. Like a three month trial in Netflix and Spotify.
